Using the app⚓︎
Here is a screenshot of the Mobile App, highlighting the most useful features:
1. Message Tab⚓︎
This is the default view when opening the app. The Message Tab will show you any RingCentral Messages (chats) you may have started with other users. Note that this is not the same as SMS/texts; RingCentral Messages are mainly used to instantly communicate with coworkers, similar to Google Chat.
You may filter messages by All, Direct, Teams, and Favorites.
2. Video Meetings Tab⚓︎
From the Video [Meetings] Tab, you can start or join a RingCentral meeting directly within the app.
3. Phone Tab⚓︎
This tab will display your dialer, for making outbound calls using your RingCentral number. Behind the dialer shows a list of your most recent calls.
From this tab, you may also navigate to your voicemails. Listening to voicemails here will mark them as "read" across your account.
4. Text Tab⚓︎
This tab allows you to send and receive text/SMS messages, using your RingCentral number. Messages read here will be marked as "read" across your account.
5. Contacts Tab⚓︎
This tab will show you a directory of all contacts that are a part of your organization. You may also add a contact manually. You can filter contacts by Company, Guests, Personal, or Teams.
6. Quick Add Button⚓︎
This button is displayed across every page in the app. The action changes depending on the context, but its purpose is generally to start a message, text, or phone call.
7. Settings Drawer⚓︎
This is where you access additional RingCentral features, such as your Availability Status, eFaxing, and Park locations
The topmost option is your Availability Status. This determines whether or not you receive calls.
Warning
If you find that your phone isn't ringing, check that your status is set to Available, and that Do-not-Disturb (DND) is not enabled on your phone
The Settings section allows you to change many aspects of your RingCentral account and app.
Of note is the Call Handling behavior options. From Settings, navigate to Phone > Call forwarding
The Call forwarding section allows you to specify how incoming calls will be handled. For example, you may choose to have calls forward to your mobile phone after ringing your desk phone. This is also where you can enable or disable ringing from within the app itself.
