Line-of-Business (LoB) Software⚓︎
Line-of-Business (LoB) applications are [typically] installed software used to manage company assets and operations.
Examples: QuickBooks, CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds (ERA Ignite).
Note that Bitstream does not administer these applications. You may need to reach out to management, or the software vendor, for assistance.
Why can't I open 𝑥 application?
This could be caused by either of the following:
Computer isn't connected to the enterprise network
Most LoB applications, such as CDK or Ignite, rely on the computer being connected to the proper enterprise network. If you cannot open the application, it is possible that you are connected to the wrong network.
In many systems, certain data ports are assigned to different networks (VLANs) - whereas many LoB applications rely on being connected to the correct network.
This can happen simply by switching to another nearby port, or if you moved equipment. This is why we require that you reach out to us before moving or altering IT equipment, so that we can ensure that everything will work ahead of time.
Ensure that you are connected to the enterprise "LAN-WIFI" for your organization. Any other network, such as "STAFF-WIFI" or "CUSTOMER-WIFI" will not work. Be sure to "forget" these networks on your laptop, such that it always connects to the enterprise one.
Submit a ticket if you need assistance connecting a managed device to the correct network, or with forgetting the wrong network.
Another user is logged in, locking the application
Some LoB applications, such as Reynolds, do not allow concurrent sessions. This means that if another user logs into Windows without the first user logging out completely or quitting the application, the application will not open for the second user.
To resolve the issue, simply reboot the computer. It is advised that multiple-user workstations be logged out of completely, when the user is done using the application.
I need to add/be assigned to a CDK printer.
CDK print jobs come in two flavors: internal, and Windows.
Internal print jobs are ones which print directly from a CDK function. Bitstream does not administer CDK, and therefore cannot assign printers for you. To be assigned a default printer, ask your Controller or Manager. Be sure to let them know the form queue of the printer.
Windows print jobs are ones which print from external sources, such as a PDF/Adobe Reader. Access to these printers is controlled by you, the user. See the guide for adding a printer via Printix:
I am being asked to launch Adobe [Acrobat/Reader].
Occasional updates to software require Adobe Reader to be launched once, in order to initialize. Simply search for adobe
in the Windows search bar, and launch the first app that appears.
